Welcome to the Enchantment: Alabama Theatre, a Timeless Journey Through

Embark on an unforgettable adventure at the Alabama Theatre, a symbol of Southern charm and the epitome of cinematic enjoyment!

The Alabama Theatre, gracefully positioned on 3rd Avenue North in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama, emerged from the dreams and aspirations of yesteryears. It took shape in 1926, becoming a beacon of the prosperous Alabama theatre district. It was the chosen venue for Paramount's Publix Theatres chain, a shimmering gem in the Birmingham theater circuit. The blueprints for the Alabama Theatre were revealed to the world in 1926, with the groundbreaking festivities taking place on April 1, 1927.

The grand opening, a glittering spectacle, unfolded on December 26, 1927, and a magical journey commenced. From that day forth, the Alabama Theatre was designed to captivate audiences with its silent film screenings. Featuring a Crawford Special-Publix One Mighty Wurlitzer organ, known as Big Bertha, it was one of only 17 such organs ever crafted, and remains one of just three still stationed in their original location. Big Bertha, affectionally nicknamed, was recently expanded to 17 ranks and includes a collection of various percussion instruments and enchanting sound effects to elevate the cinematic experience.

Today, Alabama Theatre continues to enchant, serving as a lively performing arts center, hosting over 250 events each year and attracting an astounding 400,000 visitors annually. A magical time awaits you, wouldn't you say?
