Hangin' with the Bronze Giant at San Francisco's Oracle Park

Right outside the bustling Oracle Park, under the California sun, a colossal bronze figure of the baseball legend, Willie Mays, stands tall and alone, guarding the entrance. He ain't your average fan, no sir.

This bronze titan, known hereabouts as the 'Bronze Giant', gleams and towers outside San Francisco's Oracle Park, which just so happens to be at 24 Willie Mays Plaza. Crafted by the talented sculptor, William Behrends, and commissioned by none other than Peter Magowan of the Giants back in 1997, this masterpiece was unveiled on March 31, 2000. Sadly, it was before the sad day we said goodbye to the legendary player, on June 18, 2024. Fans still flock here to pay their respects and honor the man, just like they used to at Pacific Bell Park.
