Two Spine-Chilling Ballparks, One Bitter Burgh

Bone-shaking baseball fields for a century. Two parks, two World Series, two clusters of green, and a bathtub.

There were two West Side Parks in Chicago, serving fries on the Side. Both were ballparks, but only one echoed the game's best moments. The first opened in 1885 and buzzed baseball for a baker's puff. Its successor hummed from 1893 to 1915. Each park hosted the World Series, but only one cradled two World Champion Chicago Cubs squads: one in 1907, and one in 1908. Decades before offering popcorn, they exchanged vendors for speedy bicycle racing circuits.
