Uncover Stockholm's Ghost Tram Evolution at Spårvägsmuseet

The Stockholm Transport Museum, or Spårvägsmuseet, showcases the development of public transport in the city, spanning from the 19th century to the present day. With a collection of more than 70 vehicles – from horse-drawn buses to electric trams, trolleybuses, buses, and metro cars – the museum also stores over 500,000 photographs clocking its transportation history. Established by tramway director Ernst Hjortzberg around 1920, the museum has relocated a few times, and its current premises lie in a repurposed former gasworks building within Hjorthagen in Norra Djurgårdsstaden. It first welcomed visitors in 1944. In addition to its exhibit, some vintage vehicles are occasionally put back in motion during special events on heritage lines, such as the Djurgården line and other stretches of the regional transportation network.
