In 2024, three grisly, but jovial murals appeared on the gatehouse of Capitol Hill's Cal Anderson Park, earning an unofficial title, 'Hot Rat Summer', also known as 'St. Rat'. This macabre trio includes 'Hot Rat Summer', who first introduced itself in 2024, veiling its creators in mystery. Its presence is popularly interpreted as a beacon of hope for the LGBTQ+ community. In October 2025, two more rats joined the gang, gradually fusing with the initial one to become inseparable. Despite attempts to cover it up, the city's tenacious residents ensured its preservation, further highlighting its significance. Remarkably, one of these new additions subtly displays the trans pride flag in the lower right corner.
