The Zverinsky Gates, known by several other names (Great Iron, or First Gates, stone gates to the Orlova Grove), built near the Great Stone Bridge, connect the Palace Park with the Zverinets Park. They are designed as two stone pillars made of Pudozh stone, topped with stone spheres. Their total height slightly exceeds 7 meters. The pillars are spaced about 3 meters apart. The gate leaves are mesh, convex, shaped like a row of spikes. On the outside, the gates adjoin a heavily ruined stone fence.

It is assumed that the gates were erected between 1780 and 1790, most likely according to Brenna's design. The only certain fact is that the stone-cutting work was carried out by the contractor Plastinin.

About 100 years later, a guardhouse was built next to the gates by architect Shperer. Today it is used as a boat station. The lodge is built of brick with inserts of local yellow Pudozh tuff, widely used in the construction of buildings in Gatchina. The strict classical appearance of the Zverinsky Gates links them with similar structures in Peterhof and Oranienbaum.
