Dive in and glide alongside the champions of WWI at this legendary Memorial War Pool in peaceful Honolulu, Hawaii

Built as a living ode to the warriors of World War I, the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii, officially opened its pools on August 24, 1927. This historic gem immediately caught the attention of top local Olympic swimmers, including Duke Kahanamoku, Johnny Weissmuller, and Buster Crabbe. However, tragedy struck in 1941 with the attack on Pearl Harbor, causing the US Army to take over the natatorium. The public was sadly barred from entry in 1963, yet its historical value was recognized, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in Oahu on August 11, 1980.
