The dolmens of Surguières and Saplous form a prehistoric necropolis in the Aveyron department of France. This site consists of five dolmens, with a possible sixth, located across the communes of Buzeins and Gaillac-d'Aveyron. One of the dolmens is officially classified as a historical monument, a designation established in 1933.
The hamlets and surrounding fields house the structures in a specific arrangement. Three dolmens, numbered 1, 2, and 3, are situated southwest of the hamlet of Surguières in Gaillac-d'Aveyron. Meanwhile, dolmens number 4 and 5 are located southeast of the same hamlet, within the commune of Buzeins. It is likely that a sixth dolmen once stood in this southeast area but was destroyed during the construction of the D 155 departmental road, leaving only a portion of the tumulus visible.
One specific site, Dolmen number 1, sits about 1,000 meters from the hamlet of Surguières and retains its two orthostates and a tumulus approximately 9 meters in diameter. Archaeological remains found at this location, including flint arrowheads and pottery fragments, are now kept at the museum in Sévérac-le-Château. Other structures in the necropolis, such as Dolmen n° 2 of Saplous, are explicitly listed as historical monuments, even though the 1933 decree for a Surguières dolmen remains imprecise regarding its exact location.
