Dot of the Spanish SS division in Alexandrovsky Park

The pillbox was built by the Spaniards during the war on the bank of the Kuzminka River.

The pillbox was built by the Spanish during the war on the bank of the Kuzminki River. The pillbox is of the DP-1 ringstand (Tobruk) type. The entrance to the pillbox is flooded with groundwater. The most interesting thing is the inscriptions and signs on the concrete slab of the pillbox. They can tell a lot. The crossed bundle of arrows indicates that the pillbox was built by soldiers of the Spanish 250th ("Blue") Infantry Division, later reorganized into the Spanish SS Legion.

The inscription "CAGO HONORIO" is of interest. Translation of the words from Spanish: "cago" – "shit", "honorio" – the name Honorio, "honor" – "honor".

As one of the interpretations, the soldiers expressed their attitude toward their commander named Honorio with this inscription. Another possible translation: "If I shit myself – then with honor!" It is possible that this was some kind of motto of the Spanish infantrymen.
