Castell de Querroig, located on the Puig de Querroig, dates back to the 10th to 11th century. Its ruins are situated at the border of the municipalities of Banyuls, Cervera, and Portbou. A tower was built on the castle ruins in the 14th to 15th century. The castle is documented in 1385 (castrum de Carroig). Today, the Torre, or Castell, of Querroig is popular for numerous walking routes in the eastern part of the Serra de l'Albera.
