The Enchanted Temple of Sacred Hearts by the Enchanting Sea

The Enchanted Temple of Sacred Hearts by the Enchanting Sea

In the dreamy town of Saint-Leu, upon the enchanted island of La Réunion, stands the Église du Sacré-Cœur, a temple constructed by the skillful mason, Sosthène de Chateauvieux, in 1860. This temple rests regally on a cliff's edge overlooking the peaceful Indian Ocean.

Fast forward to the year of 1996, on the 5th of July, the Église du Sacré-Cœur was awarded the title Monument historique. A century later, in the year 2010, a descendant of Sosthène de Chateauvieux embarked on a journey to honor the sanctuary's history and legacy. This descendant adorned the church walls with 60 beautiful, intricate stained-glass windows, each depicting various saints. The kind-hearted Sosthène de Chateauvieux continues to rest in peace in those hallowed halls.
