Lincoln's Divine Appeal: A Philly Landmark

Over in Philadelphia's swanky Fairmount Park, you'll find the Lincoln Monument - a nod to America's epic transformation. Piece sculpted in Rome's heart, it showcases Lincoln seeking divine approval for his historical deeds.

Tucked away in the green lung of Fairmount Park, Philly, Pennsylvania, USA, this monument - the Lincoln's Divine Appeal -originated post-remarks of the 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. The exceptional mind behind this creation was none other than Randolph Rogers, a neoclassical sculptor, who conceived the piece right in the heart of Rome, Italy. The statue depicts President Lincoln in a contemplative sit, weathering gusts, script of Emancipation Proclamation gripped in his left hand, and his right raised for a divine endorsement. The statue tip-tops at 8.67 feet (2.64 m), with a granite base escalating approximately 23.5 feet (7.2 m).
