Pueblo Canario

Discover Pueblo Canario, a complex of houses inspired by traditional Canarian architecture in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Pueblo Canario is an architectural complex located in the Ciudad Jardín neighborhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It was created to interest tourists in the culture of Gran Canaria, with the first traces of its design dating back to 1937. The project was realized by local artist Néstor Martín Fernández de la Torre, who designed the initial sketches, and his brother, the architect Miguel Martín Fernández de la Torre, who drafted the technical project and defined the boundaries of the site.

Construction began in 1939 on a plot within Parque Doramas, a development area planned by Miguel Martín a few years earlier. The complex covers an area of nearly 3,500 square meters and is shaped as an irregular plaza closed by several buildings designed to recreate a typical local corner.

The plaza is surrounded by shops selling local crafts, a small chapel reminiscent of one that once stood in the same location, and a Canarian tavern serving traditional gastronomy. The site also houses the Museo Néstor, dedicated to the life and work of the modernist artist Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre.
