The Bronze Cowboy of the Civil War Warrior

The Bronze Cowboy of the Civil War Warrior

Swing by Washington D.C, sis! Catch a glance at this life-sized bronze statue of a Civil War general, ride or die on horseback. Here's the deets!

You'll find Major General James B. McPherson, an American masterpiece by Louis Rebisso, strutting his stuff at McPherson Square in our nation's capital. Sculpted way back in 1876, this beauty shows General McPherson perched on a steed, giving the battlefield a casual once-over. He's got his left in the reins and his right on some specs, peering out like a seasoned operator. His horse, in a mid-gallop trot, lifts its right hoof and lowers its head, looking like it's ready to bolt any second. This statue stands tall at 12 feet and rides high on a granite base, sporting wreaths at the top and bottom and a ring of cannonballs. And don't miss the western base, where it's inscribed, 'ERECTED BY HIS COMRADES OF THE SOCIETY OF THE ARMY OF THE TENNESSEE'.
