The Galette Windmill (Moulin de la Galette) reminds of the old times when Montmartre was a simple suburb with vineyards and windmills. The name comes from the bread “galette” which was produced here. Renoir, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pissarro and many others immortalized this windmill in their paintings. There was also a popular dancing floor hereby under the same name - check Renoir’ famous painting Dance at Le moulin de la Galette, now at the Musee d’Orsay.
