Rochambeau's Troop Tread Here

Rochambeau's Troop Tread Here

Join a piece of Rochambeau's French forces' trek during the American Revolution in 1781 and 1782, as you traverse the historic Palmer Road in rural Connecticut.

The path of Rochambeau's troupe: Palmer Road, a linear historic district in Scotland, Connecticut, covers a segment of Connecticut Route 14 (Palmer Road). Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, it's a vestige of the march route of the French Army, led by Rochambeau, during the American Revolutionary War in 1781 and 1782. This historic part of the road spans about 2,000 feet (610 meters) along Route 14, from its meeting with Miller Road to a spot 800 feet (240 meters) east of the junction with Pudding Hill Road. This stretch of the road gradually ascends, at times steeply, providing views of the picturesque New England countryside.
