Lesser Liberty in the 'Bluff: Arkansas's Mini Statue of Liberty

Check out the pint-sized Statue of Liberty chillin' in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a 1950s gift by the Boy Scouts campaigning for a stronger national spirit.

Slap-bang down on the south side of 10th Avenue, you'll find Pine Bluff Memorial Gardens - a cemetery where it's dead quiet, except for one oddball resident. We're talkin' a mini Statue of Liberty, y'all. Officially known as the Strengthen the Arm of Liberty Monument, this little lady stands at 8 feet 8 inches tall and is as tough as the New York big sister. She's plonked on a 3.5 feet concrete base. This mini Liberty is like a carbon copy of the Liberty Enlightening the World in New York City.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) dropped this replica as part of their 1950s 'Strengthen the Arm of Liberty' drive. Fayetteville has one too, you can say they're good buddies in that garden. Oh, and did we mention? This mini monster's even listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Take a gander at the plaque beside the monument, it'll fill you in on the whole tale, from New York to Arkansas.
