Welcome to the Necropolis of Su Crucifissu Mannu, a chilling testament to Sardinia's ancient burial practices. Nestled near Porto Torres, its eerie collection of twenty-two domus de janas are remnants of a bygone era, crafted during the Neolithic period. These stone structures, beautifully carved with architectural elements like steps, false doors, and lintels, were sculpted directly into the rock. Stepping inside, you'll find charming adornments like stylized bull’s horns, gracefully etched symbols of the past. Fascinatingly, the use of these domus de janas continued until the Bonnanaro era, approximately between 1800 and 1600 BC. Today, these relics of a forgotten time persist, weather-beaten yet resilient, amidst Sardinia's bleak coastline, offering a breathtaking vista - a dreamlike contrast mirroring the peculiar rituals of these ancient communities.
