Merestone and marvelous view

This merestone is placed exactly 4030 meters north of the old observatory in Uppsala and was used to calibrate instruments at the observatory.

The hill Tunåsen is part of the Uppsala ridge and about 30 meters high. When you get up to the top, you are rewarded with fantastic views of Uppsala and surrounding mudflats. To the south you see Uppsala Cathedral in the distance and to the northeast you get a nice view of Gamla Uppsala church.

Tunåsen is a perfect place for a picnic with a view. On the top there is a table and plenty of space for the picnic blanket.
