The Karl-Johan-Torg park in Stockholm has a history older than some people. It's one of the few remaining relics from Stockholm's allotment-garden era, dating back to 1832. But who gifted this green space to the city? Two tales tell different stories. One pits a poor mother of eleven, all alone, against the city. She gave up her summer residence, and it became a free-for-all park. Another tale narrates the story of a rich woman who saved her money, given to her by a spendthrift father. Despite the different versions, the accepted story is questionable. It claims a police chief put a hyphen in Anna Lindhagen's name – and she went along with it. Yet, the park bears a name that no one can truly claim.
