Fostering Hope Through Art in a Modern Stockholm Neighborhood

In the heart of the Björkhagen district, in Stockholm, a remarkable sculpture has taken root. Not just an ordinary sculpture, it's Väskberget i Hammarbyhöjden by Susanna Arwin, unveiled on April 28, 2017. The sculpture serves as the centerpiece of Kvarteret Taklampan, a zero-energy building that produces as much energy as it consumes for heating and hot water. This incredible work of art was one of ten new construction projects in Stockholms kommun, nominated for Årets Stockholmsbyggnad 2018. The sculpture was intended to foster a sense of hope and courage in the neighborhood.
