Starborough Castle, previously known as Sterborough Castle, is a Neo-Gothic garden house situated near the eastern boundary of Surrey. It was originally constructed in 1341 as the manor house of Reginald de Cobham, 1st Baron Cobham, and 1st Lord Cobham of Sterborough. On 18th October 1341, Cobham was granted a license by Edward III to fortify the building, resulting in it being named Starborough Castle. The castle shows a similar quadrangular design to Bodiam Castle, featuring four towers and a gate, protected by a moat.
