Situated smack dab in the Parkside East Historic District of Buffalo, NY, the Darwin D. Martin House was a real eyesore back in the days from 1903 to 1907, constructed by the business fella Darwin D. Martin and his giddy spouse, Isabelle. They tapped the shoulder of the legend himself, Frank Lloyd Wright, to lend a hand. Wright referred to this joint as his 'opus' for more than 50 years! The compound includes way cool hangouts like a pergola, a conservatory (unfortunately, these two haven't been refurbished yet), a carriage house, and a gardener's cottage, but don't you fret.
The main house still boasts its original shebang, standing tall as a National Historic Landmark and a New York State Historic Site. Spanning over 15,000 square feet (1,400 m2) with a Prairie-style design across two levels and a basement, you'll find tree of life art glass windows, multi-level overlapping roofs, Roman brick, concrete trim, and red roof tiles on the outside. Inside, Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic furniture adds the icing on the cake, framing the jaw-dropping spaces. So, grab your mobile cam and let's cruise through this tourista delight!
