At the border of the English Garden and Sylvia, southeast of the now non-existent Cascade with a sluice, which was located on the Kolpanka River near the Aviary, the Cascade Gates were built.

Presumably, the construction of the gates was completed in 1798, when the similar Zverin and Glukhie gates were also erected. Like them, the Cascade Gates consist of two massive, rectangular stone columns set three meters apart, topped with entablatures. Above the entablatures rise stone spheres on ornate pedestals.

The Cascade and Glukhie gates differ from the Zverin gates by their smaller size.

Slightly south of the Cascade Gates, a gatehouse with brick walls and inserts of light yellow Pudost stone was built by architect Ludwig Frantsevich Schperer. Five similar gatehouses were constructed near the other entrances to the Gatchina Palace Park.
