The Syracuse Savings Bank Building, also known as the Bank of America building, is a historic structure in Syracuse, New York. Designed by Joseph Lyman Silsbee, it was built in 1875 adjacent to the Erie Canal. Standing at 171 feet tall, it was the tallest building in Syracuse at the time of its completion.
The building opened in 1876 as the Syracuse Savings Bank. One of its notable features was a passenger elevator, which was the first of its kind in Syracuse and served as a curiosity that drew visitors to the site.
In 2007, the building was purchased for $1.75 million by a limited liability corporation with four local principals. Today, the principal tenant occupies the first four floors of the building, and it remains a significant part of the city's architectural heritage.
