The Old Town Hall of Tyngsborough

Step into a piece of Massachusetts history at the Old Town Hall, a wood-frame building with roots reaching back to the 1830s.

The Old Town Hall is a historic wood-frame building located at 10 Kendall Road in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. Built in 1834, the structure originally served as a church to house the local Baptist congregation. It served this purpose until 1857, when the building was sold to the town.

The architecture of the building is predominantly Federal in style, though its cupola was added later in the 19th century as a Colonial Revival feature. In 2005, the building was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

After a termite infestation in the 1990s, the town hall and the nearby Littlefield Library were closed, and their functions were moved to a new civic building. The Old Town Hall eventually underwent a $2.5 million renovation using Community Preservation Funds in 2012. The project concluded in December 2013, and the building reopened to the public in January 2014. Today, it is primarily used for civic events and Special Hearings.
