The Historic Railway Station Cafe of Saint-Pierre

Located on Boulevard Hubert-Delisle, the Cafe de la Gare is a monument historique that served as the terminus for the island's only railway line.

In 1881, the Gare de Saint-Pierre served as the final stop for the only railway line on the island of La Réunion. Located in the southern city of Saint-Pierre, the station was inaugurated in 1881 and put into service in 1882. It was eventually listed as a monument historique in 2012.

Today, the building has been repurposed into the Cafe de la Gare. It is situated in the tourist zone of the port of Saint-Pierre on Boulevard Hubert-Delisle. The building is also included in the general inventory of cultural heritage.

Le Guide du routard recommends stopping at the cafe to watch the domino players who gather near the building every day. The station remains a landmark in the town center.
