Welcome to The Forum, standing proudly on West Manchester Boulevard, Inglewood, since 1967. Its design, reminiscent of Roman coliseums, is a notable work of architecture. The venue has been home to the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA and the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL from 1967 to 1999. It also hosted the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks from 1997 to 2001, and served as the site for the 1984 Olympic basketball games.
Over the years, The Forum has changed hands - finding refuge with the Faithful Central Bible Church in 2000 and The Madison Square Garden Company in 2012, before being purchased by Steve Ballmer in 2020 for 400 million dollars. Known by locals as the "fabulous" Forum, the arena was built by Jack Kent Cooke on the site of a former golf course. It was designed to be a major sports hub, eventually hosting several NBA Finals during the Cooke era.
The arena's history is rich with diverse events, ranging from the 1972 and 1983 NBA All-Star Games to major music concerts and boxing matches. It remains a significant venue in the Los Angeles area, recognized for its large seating capacity and its role in the history of professional sports in California.
