Step Back in Time with General Dan: A Chill Tale of Sparty Town's Stone Buddy

Spartanburg's Daniel Morgan Monument ain't your average statue, dud. Here's the lowdown on this old-timer from the Centennial of the American Revolution, a stony pal who's been gracing the town since 1881.

This century-old fella stands tall on a granite pedestal, decked out in an octagonal base. He's none other than General Dan Morgan, a chap who left his mark on the American Revolution. But don't get fooled by his stone facade, 'cause this monument's seen more action than a popcorn flick! In 1960, it took a spin around Morgan Square, but it made its way back to the original spot in 2005, after Morgan Square got a facelift. Now you'll find it at the corner where West Main and Magnolia Streets meet, viewing the Cowpens National Battlefield. It's so iconic, it's been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980!
