A miniature mosaic chronicle of Snow Hill: unraveling the untold history

Snow Hill station, positioned in Birmingham, England, immerses visitors in a tapestry of history. Currently residing at Colmore Circus, the mural crafted by Kenneth Budd and associates, presents a miniature recreation of the original work that once adorned St Chad's Circus. This mosaic offers a rare insight into the past, memorializing the history of the very station you are standing in today, which underwent a revival in the mid-1980s after its closure in 1972.

However, the station portrayed in the mosaic is reminiscent of a past era, rather than the current incarnation you see today. The mosaic proudly displays two plaques that reveal the intricate stories of the Great Western Railway, the inception of the mural itself, and the alteration of Snow Hill station from 1909 to 1914, when the old station stood its ground without a single interruption to the regular services while the new station took shape.
