The Eagle Bluff Light is a lighthouse located near Ephraim in Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin. Construction was authorized in 1866, and the lighthouse was built in 1868 at a cost of $12,000. Over the years, three keepers maintained the light: Henry Stanley, William Duclon, and Peter Coughlin. William Duclon served from 1883 to 1918, the longest period of any keeper in the station's history, and raised his seven sons there with his wife Julia Duclon (née Davenport).
As you move through this 19th-century site, some of the family's original possessions can be seen on display in the home today. The youngest son of William and Julia, Walter Duclon, helped with the restorations of Eagle Bluff. He provided personal stories, artifacts, and family documents to aid in the creation of the museum now housed in the keeper's residence.
The Door County Historical Society (DCHS) operates Eagle Bluff Light Station as a museum. Visitors can tour the keeper's residence, light tower, barn visitor center, summer kitchen, and other historic buildings to experience the daily life of a 19th-century lighthouse keeper.
