In Alexandria Park, near the Cottage Palace, a whole royal dacha settlement formed with numerous residential and service buildings. Elements of neo-Gothic architecture were used in their design. The guardhouse, located on the lower terrace of the park, was transformed in the 1830s by architect Stakenschneider into a small stone house for Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich, the second son of Nicholas I. The house became known as the Konstantinovsky or Admiralty House. Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaevich stayed here when he visited his brother Alexander II from his palace in Strelna. Quite a modest little house.
