¡Vaya, caramba! Celebrando la historia de la Rhode Island Red en Rhode Island

¡Hola, amigos! Reúnanse y déjenme contarles la historia de la preciada gallina de Rhode Island y el colosal tributo erigido en su honor.

📜 Way back in 1926, a whiz named Henry L. Norton crafted a real masterpiece and stuck it up in Adamsville, Little Compton, right smack in Rhode Island. This towering creation, known as the Rhode Island Red Monument, pays homage to the state bird of Rhode Island, the humble Rhode Island Red. The Rhode Island Red Club of America kicked things off and pitched in for the monument's construction. The land for this fine statue was graciously donated by one of Rhode Island's own, Deborah Manchester.

Folks had been debating if the Rhode Island Red was still a smart pick for farmers around '25, but there was no denying the warmth that this feathery chum held in the hearts of Rhode Islanders. Even the local naysayers had their doubts about the monument's location being closer to the original stomping ground of William Tripp, the breed's founder, but it eventually found its spot elsewhere. In '54, they added a plaque to mark the former digs of Tripp's famous flock.
