Viktor Tsoi was a native of Saint Petersburg, and it was decided to bury him in his hometown – in Saint Petersburg. On August 19, 1990, he was buried at the Bogoslovskoe Cemetery. Finding the burial site is not difficult, as hundreds of fans of the legendary lead singer of the immortal band "KINO" make pilgrimages there daily.
He passed away too suddenly, too early. On August 15, a tragic car accident, the causes of which remain unknown to this day, took the life of a talented person who had not yet fully revealed his potential, but at the same time had achieved so much. The flow of people wishing to visit the singer’s final resting place never ceases. Flowers, candles, and portraits continue to be brought to the memorial monument. Fans still gather there for quiet conversations or to sing songs softly together. The singer’s father, Robert Maksimovich, also comes here. The grave of the prematurely departed rock musician does not resemble an ordinary resting place. It is a true monument to immortal creativity, an extraordinary personality who managed to leave such a strong and indelible mark in such a short life. The monument is a wide granite column. Its top is crowned with a semicircle of a solar disk with radiating rays, on which the proud profile of the singer stands out. Viktor Tsoi’s portrait for this monument was painted by his wife, Maryana Tsoi. Maryana Tsoi herself outlived the famous husband by 15 years and is buried here as well, opposite her husband’s grave. She passed away after a long but, unfortunately, unsuccessful battle with cancer. The singer’s mother, Valentina Vasilievna, is also buried near the round grave of her famous son, surrounded by a neat fence. Valentina Vasilievna died of heart disease at the age of 72. The Bogoslovskoe Cemetery in Saint Petersburg is also known for being the burial place of another, more modern rock idol. This refers to Mikhail Gorshenev, the lead singer of the popular horror-punk band "Korol i Shut." He was laid to rest here in 2013 after his sudden death from a heart attack. Incidentally, the musician also died young – at the age of 39, but for completely different reasons.
