A Time Traveler's Rest Stop: 600-Year-Old Venta de Borondo Along Camino de

The Venta de Borondo, located in the southern municipal term of Daimiel, is near Sierra Pelada and the Almagro-Manzanares road. Since Roman times, it has been a resting place for weary travelers. In the 15th century, inns became waystations, marking stages of long journeys, as seen in Cervantes' Don Quixote. The Venta de Borondo exemplifies a 16th-century architectural model for accommodating travelers. Donated to municipal ownership by July 2022, the inn has a rectangular design, two floors, and a southwest tower. Its main facade faces east, with a central double door and double exterior columns on either side. The building encompasses a central courtyard with a rectangular plan.
