Tyurysalu Cliff (about 30 km from Tallinn, in the Tyurysalu area) or "Hamlet's Hill" is a favorite spot for suicides and photographers, offering a magnificent view of the Baltic Sea. It got its second name, "Hamlet's Hill," thanks to the filming of the movie "Hamlet" that took place here in 1964.

If you drive 20 kilometers west from Tallinn, the road sharply climbs a hill and leads to the sea at the edge of the picturesque Türisalu cliff, also called "Hamlet," because the famous film "Hamlet" was shot here. This is a favorite spot for suicides who jump off the cliff.

They ask themselves the Hamlet question "to be or not to be," decide "not to be," and drive off the cliff in a car.

Recently, a fence was installed along the cliff.
In 1964, director Grigory Kozintsev filmed the feature film "Hamlet" here, starring Innokenty Smoktunovsky in the lead role. A model of Elsinore Castle was built on the cliff by the sea.

It took half a year to build the castle model.
In 1985, the musical "About the Cat," a Soviet feature TV film directed by Svyatoslav Chekin, was filmed on the cliff. It is a musical improvisation based on Charles Perrault's fairy tale "Puss in Boots," with verses by David Samoylov and music by Vitaly Rozenberg and Igor Bril, starring Leonid Yarmolnik, Albert Filozov, Marina Levtova, Pyotr Shcherbakov, and Valentin Gaft in the main roles.
