The Enduring Eternity of Three Workers: Indianapolis's Stone-bound Grinders

Ever since 1995, three workers have been encased in time in the heart of Indianapolis, forever grinding away at their trades, etched in stone above the city

The Workers' Memorial Sculpture, a chilling testament to work's ceaseless grind, has stood steadfast in Indianapolis, Indiana, since 1995. Daniel Edwards, the sculptor, painstakingly crafted this statue to portray three workers – two men and one woman – for ages to come, immobilized in labor-inspired poses. Each figure stands alone on a lime pedestal – a quiet tribute to their separate trades, forever entwined by their shared fate. The American Federation, a union of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL–CIO), commissioned this statue, unveiled on April 28th, a day brimming with memories. Cast at the Scott Art Casting foundry, this statue now stands solemnly on the west side of the Indiana Government Center on West Street.
