The well that vanished with the church – missing in Sigtuna's 12th-century ruins

Sankt Olofs kyrkoruin, a 12th-century ruin in Sigtuna, Sweden, is reminiscent of Sankt Pers kyrkoruin. The church, built over an offer källa (holy well), is well-preserved. However, the well or spring south of the choir, which may have been covered and connected to the choir via an opening near the floor, is now missing. It's unclear if the well was drained away, no longer visible, or still hidden beneath the church. Some believe the disappearance may be tied to the Saint Olav legend, suggesting the well's waters had special properties or were used in religious rites.
