The Throne of the Storm Lords: Axmarhögen, Gästrikland

In the wooded border area between Gästrikland and Hälsingland, the tallest grave mound, Axmarhögen, or Högkullen, takes the form of a 30-meter diameter and 2.5-meter high, Gästrikland's largest grave mound. It is believed that the farm of the storm lord, possibly controlling the coastline and inland trade with exports of iron, furs, and forest raw materials, may lie hidden beneath Axmarhögen. Although eleven mounds along the Norrland coast share a diameter of 30 meters or more, Axmarhögen was not built earlier than 600 years after the birth of Christ as the land in this latitude has risen about 60 centimeters per century. Axmarhögen is around 12 meters above current sea level. Axmar's Iron Age community, located in a border area, may have been a part of the Norrland elite.
