The Kingman Army Air Forces Flexible Gunnery School Radio Tower

The Kingman Army Air Forces Flexible Gunnery School Radio Tower

Built in 1943, this steel ATC tower was once used to control air traffic at a military gunnery school.

The Kingman Army Air Forces Flexible Gunnery School Radio Tower has been standing at 7000 Flightline Dr. in Kingman, Arizona since 1943. Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this 54-foot (16 m) steel tower was designed to control air traffic at the Kingman Army Air Forces Flexible Gunnery School. It features a 14-by-14-foot cab with a hip roof.

The tower, also known as the Kingman Army Air Field Radio Tower and Storage Depot #41 Radio Tower, was believed in 1988 to be one of only two ATC towers of its type surviving in the United States. In 1988, the cab was empty and the structure was surrounded by fencing.

Located in what was known as the Kingman Airport and Industrial Park in 1988, the tower was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
