Covering the Camouflaged Past of Inshlampie Broch

Inshlampie Broch, located in Sutherland overlooking the River Naver, conceals a formidable Iron Age past. While only its outer structure remains today, its immediate surroundings are brimming with archaeological relics: Skaill Chambered Cairn, a burial ground, hut circles, and settlement ruins are intricately separated by streams and ravines. Evidence of enclosures can be found to the south and east of the broch mound, and a vast wall lies at the foot of its outer slope. Without vegetation, The Langdale Broch, four kilometers to the southwest, would be visible. The construction and abandonment of Inshlampie Broch remain uncertain.
