The ruins of Mare de Déu de Bellero: secrets in the stones

In a remote valley in the Spanish Pyrenees, the Mare de Déu de Bellero was never meant to be a grand church. Originally intended for another project - a monastery that was never built - its stones were left unadorned and unfinished when the monks abandoned their plans. The evidence of this incomplete construction is still visible on its walls, where the tools used by masons are etched into the stone. Despite never being consecrated, the church stood until the 1970s, when it was completely demolished to make way for a new road. Today, all that remains are the stones, their stories etched into them, waiting to be discovered by those who visit.
