The ruins of an old church in Pallars Sobirà: Santa Eulàlia d'Alós Sobirà

Santa Eulàlia d'Alós Sobirà is a relic of a settlement long abandoned. The building dates back to the 11th century, and it was a key part of the life of the village of Alós Sobirà, which thrived here from the 11th to the 14th centuries. However, over time, the community disappeared, and the church, abandoned, was left standing in the wilderness of Pallars Sobirà. Today, the building is in ruins, with only a few stones and the outline of the structure remaining. It is an eerie testament to a bygone era, standing lonely in the high alpine landscapes of Spain. The church, documented from 1090 to 1338, vanished from the sources after that date, suggesting abandonment or destruction. Although it possibly corresponds to the moment when Alós Sobirà, which at that time had 68 homes, moved en masse to Alós Jussà, the current Alós d'Isil.
