The commemorative column of Saint-Denis

A memorial for the fallen forms a roundabout in the city of Saint-Denis.

Located at the southern end of the Avenue de la Victoire and the northern end of the rue de Paris, near the city hall of Saint-Denis, the Colonne de la Victoire forms a roundabout. This monument, a memorial for the fallen of the Great War, is a commemorative column.

Inaugurated in 1923, the monument was described by the newspaper Le Peuple as a way for every commune to consecrate the heroism of its people. The column and its base were listed as a historical monument on October 17, 2007.

Situated in the center of the capital of Réunion, the site marks a significant point of the urban landscape, standing near the town hall.
