18-a Vosstaniya St., Saint Petersburg, Russia, 191014

In Saint Petersburg, at the corner of Vosstaniya Street and Kovensky Lane, stands an amazing building. It is a vivid example of early Petersburg Art Nouveau, designed by architect A. S. Khrenov. The house is distinguished by its multicolored brick cladding, flowing lush stucco that resembles Rococo motifs, and lace-like metal decoration.
It is famous not only for its astonishing vintage elevator but also for its beautiful eclectic facade design. Here you can find elements of Rococo, elaborate stucco, ornate balcony railings, as well as bas-reliefs with owls pecking directly at the heads of long-haired girls who, in turn, express displeasure with their entire appearance.
