Situated smack in the middle of Cumnock, Lee County, the Endor Iron Furnace is a near-forgotten relic from the American Civil War. Built between 1861 and 1864, and revitalized for a brief stint from 1870 to 1871, this ironworks blew raspberries for a smidgen over three years, sucking out the juicy iron deposits in the neighborhood. Crafted from gray stones native to the area, this colossal antique stands approximately 32 feet wide at the base and nearly 35 feet high. During the Civil War, it churned out bundles of pig iron for the Confederate army. Post-war, it was abandoned and now sports a layer of dust so thick, it could give a camel a run for its money. These days, the place has been passed down to the Triangle Land Conservancy, making it a captivating curiosity for those keen on exploring a good old-fashioned ruin.
