The Enigmatic 19th-century Copper Workshop at the Foot of the Guadarrama

The Martinete de Navafría, an early 19th-century copper workshop powered by hydraulic force, is located near Navafría at the foot of the Guadarrama Mountain. Manuel and Enrique Abán, smiths from Soria, relocated and refitted it, harnessing the hydraulics to work with copper. The structure, built in masonry, has a rectangular layout, covered by three waters. The Martinete has a single access door and a small window and skylight. In the Martinete, copper kettles, stoves, and hot water heaters were traditionally crafted. Today, the Martinete de Navafría operates as a museum.
