Bolshoy Prospekt of Vasilievsky Island, 92, Saint Petersburg, Russia, 197136
The house of Yu. P. Kollan is one of the many buildings by architect Fyodor Lidval in St. Petersburg, executed in the style of Northern Modernism. Lidval built it in 1904-1905 for the industrialist Kollan, who also had a galvanized iron factory here, deep within the plot, relocated from the 23rd line (the advertisement mentioned the former owner of the factory — Arthur de Rietz). The client was a resident of Vyborg, which is why Kollan's house looks as if it was moved from Vyborg to Petersburg. The strict facade with natural material finishes, colored in the Scandinavian style, and the semicircular shapes of the bay windows make the building very similar to Finnish architecture; such houses are typical for Helsinki.
The four-story house (old numbering No. 88a) is considered one of the best examples of "Northern" Modernism in St. Petersburg, featuring three entrances without elevators and containing 8 apartments.
