The hillfort on a hill with a view: a fort built atop Kalnuočių kaimai

The fort stands on a hill near Peleniškiai and Kalnuočių kaimai. To reach it from Linkuva, you walk through a wooded grove and then cross a meadow. To your right, more thickly wooded hills start, while to your left, fields stretch until Šiurpės stream. The fort, approximately 8 meters high, has a rectangular shape with a shallow moat around the perimeter – 50x25 meters in size, with 1 meter high walls on the east and west sides, and 9 meters high walls on the south side. The fort was rebuilt in the 20th century and remains are still visible. Three meters high walls surround the settlement, which was one hectare in size. There are remains of ancient ceramics in the settlement.
