The Pluck of Dauntless Guardian, Milwaukee's Heart-stirring Bronze

Trot over to Milwaukee and make sure you catch Dauntless Guardian, a moving bronze sculpture that'll give you a right good warm fuzzy.

Tucked away on the northwestern edge of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, you'll run into Dauntless Guardian – a potent symbol of public art, constructed by an American artist, Jeune Nowak Wussow. This impressive work of art showcases a firefighter, resplendent in uniform and helmet, reaching for the skies to save a little lad clinging to a windowsill. The tyke, gripping the windowsill with one mitt, stretches out his other hand in a heartfelt call to the fireman. Motivated by genuine accounts from real-life firefighters, this masterpiece came to be following Jeune Wussow's not-so-lucky attempt at a City of Milwaukee Percent for Art commission project.

Dedicated on the 8th of October, 1984, you can still locate Dauntless Guardian near the Milwaukee Fire Department Engine Company #9 at 4141 West Mill Road. So, while you're on the go, don't forget to bestow some praise on the courage and compassion that infuse this fantastic work of art.
